BIOGRAPHY
Born in Jamaica, raised and educated in England,
Marcia Barrett first found fame as a solo performer in Germany in the early 70’s. In 1969 Marcia took up an offer to dance in a discotheque near Hamburg. One evening she spontaneously reached for the microphone and sang "Oh Happy Day", never realising that it would be the start of a phenomenal world wide career. For the next five years she toured around Germany performing her repertoire which included "Belfast" (a song that was specially written for her and later a Boney M. hit).

In 1976 she joined the now legendary Boney M. She spent fifteen years as a vital vocalist and performer for the group, contributing her powerful and distinctive voice to all of their biggest hits including "We Kill The World", "Belfast", "Daddy Cool" "Ma Baker", "Rasputin* and "Rivers Of Babylon" amongst many others. Their albums also hit the top of the charts with Nightflight To Venus becoming the groups best selling album and one of the best selling albums in Europe ever. The group performed for royals and and other highnesses and they danced on the red square in Moscow in the midst of the cold war. in 1990 at the end of their staggering career Boney M. had fifteen Nr 1 chart hits and countless top ten hits around the world, collectected over 800 golden, silver and platinum records and sold more that 200 million records to that date.

At the edge of the new century Marcia Barrett also returned to the lime light. After having fought cancer twice in the last ten years, she was ready to rock. Fans around the world were already celebrating her long anticipated solo recording, aptly entitled "Survival", that was written by her and her husband Marcus James, who also is a veteran in the music biz. Marcia’s message on Survival is one of hope for the future and reaches out to all. But fate struck again when Marcia was diagnosed with another two bouts of cancer. But the true fighter Marcia is she has won over the illness and was eager to return to her passion - music. The dance track "Seeing is Believing" was her first release on xoah records.
